How to use them? The best ideas.

On the surface it would seem that marijuana stalks they are useless. Nothing could be further from the truth! There is resin on hemp stalks, so why not use it? Many people treat the stems as a worthless part of the hemp plant, but this is not entirely true.

It is certain that we will not find as many trichomes or terpenes on the stems as on the leaves and flowers. Trace amounts of beneficial compounds, however, will certainly be found on them. It is therefore worth collecting the stems to use them for a good purpose. What can you do with marijuana stems?

Can you smoke marijuana stems?

Of course you can, but anyone who has tried it knows that the shoots simply taste bad. They also contain a lot of chlorophyll, so if you care about your health, go for it it's better not to do this. By smoking the stems, you will neither get a strong intoxicating effect (if you want to smoke cannabis stems), nor a particularly beneficial therapeutic effect, because the amount of cannabinoids on the shoots is really negligible. Therefore, we sincerely discourage this type of practice.

Beginning of stem harvesting

If you are a medical marijuana patient, theoretically your cannabis does not contain much stem fragments. If this is not the case, then the quality of such dried material may be questioned. Therefore, here it is not necessarily worth putting off the "sticks" for later.

Marijuana on the black market is a completely different matter. There will certainly be stalks in each portion, because, unfortunately, it is not in the dealer's interest to deliver the goods without this additional burden. But let's skip this topic, because we do not approve of the process of purchasing drought from an unknown, illegal source.

However, if you live in a country where the law allows access to marijuana, or it is legal to grow your own cannabis, you can start the process of collecting the stems. All you need is a resealable jar that you store in a dry place to avoid mold. So remember to close the jar tightly after each opening.

Do the stems have THC?

Marijuana stalks contain a very small amount of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis. Compared to flowers (which are the main source of THC) and leaves, the concentration of THC in the stems is much lower.

Marijuana stalks are more often used for industrial purposes, such as in the production of hemp fiber, than for recreational or medicinal purposes. They mainly contain cellulose fibers, which are useful in the production of paper, fabrics and even building materials.

Although it is theoretically possible to extract small amounts of THC from stems, this process is usually inefficient and unprofitable. Most growers and consumers focus on the inflorescences and, to a lesser extent, the leaves of marijuana, which contain much higher concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids.

The question is often asked: do the stems stick? Well, smoking marijuana stalks, as we have already written, will not meet expectations, it will not provide the phase that the consumer would like to experience.

Decarboxylation - you have to remember about it.

Before we start using the harvested hemp stalks, we will need to decarboxylate them. The process itself is very important, regardless of whether we process dried hemp or only stems. If you intend to use the stems for the cannabinoids they contain, the carboxyl group must be removed (decarboxylated). The process involves exposing organic material (in our case, cannabis stems or flowers) to heat in order to convert some of the chemicals contained in that material. In hemp, the decarbonization process converts THCA and CBDA into their sister cannabinoids, THC and CBD, respectively. We write more about this process in the article "hemp butter". Marijuana stalk tea

To prepare one of the most popular drinks in the world, i.e. tea, we can use the stems, of course, flowers or leaves will also pass the exam. Cannabis tea was already known in ancient India as a source of spiritual and healing properties. Hemp tea prepared from the stems allows you to reap the therapeutic benefits without the intoxicating hit of THC. Of course, if you live in Poland, you can also prepare such tea yourself. It is enough that you have a permit to grow hemp, or you just bought dried hemp or ready-made hemp teas available on our home market.

Recipe for homemade marijuana hemp tea:

1. Place 1-2 grams of decarboxylated flowers/leaves/stems inside gauze or reusable tea balls (special herb teapots can also be used).
2. Boil water and pour boiling water over the previously prepared material - you can add mint, regular tea or other herbs here if you want to mask the taste of cannabis.
3. Leave the decoction for 5 to 10 minutes.
4. Enjoy the hemp tea (of course you can add milk or sugar as you like).

Marijuana stalk tincture

Cannabis tinctures are another way to use marijuana stems, whether you're interested in tinctures for medical, oral use, or use marijuana more for recreational purposes. It's important to remember here that only empirically (unlike potions made from buds) you can test the potency cheaply. Here you should portion the ingredients carefully, because you can overdo it with strength and spoil the whole tincture.

Recipe? Please:

1. Place the stalks, having previously chopped them, in one liter of high-proof alcohol. The more stems you give, the stronger the tincture. Do not overdo the shaking as this process also affects the later strength of the potion.
2. Close the bottle and place it in a cool, shady place for at least a month.
3. Every few days, gently shake the bottle so that the alcohol absorbs the valuable cannabinoids.
4. Strain the mixture by pouring it preferably into a dark bottle.
5. Test in moderation to find out what power your cannabis concoction hides.

Hemp stalk kief

The process of obtaining kief from the stalks is time-consuming and not super-productive, but of course it is achievable.

1. Put the chopped or ground stems in a plastic tube and then put everything in the freezer.
2. Shake the tube thoroughly each time you add new shoots.
3. After some time, you will notice frozen crystals at the bottom of the tube.
4. Remove the stems and collect the kief.
5. Store kief in a dark, dry and airtight container.
6. You can use the stems for tea or infusions.
