Medical marijuana in Poland - present stan in pharmacies

Marijuana has long been known to have medicinal properties. So-called medical marijuana is obtained from two subspecies of cannabis – cannabis and sativa. They differ in the content of active substances, cannabinoids - THC and CBD.

Due to the growing interest of patients who decide to start therapy with medical marijuana in Poland, the demand for this drug is so high that pharmacies are unable to provide the right amount of dried material. As a country, we still have problems with providing the right amount of medicine for the most needy, and this is related to the applicable law, which prohibits the production of medical marijuana by Polish companies, so unfortunately it has to be imported from abroad.

Medical marijuana in Poland: where is the raw material for our market stuck?

According to the portal - DobrzePoLek - which monitors the availability of drugs on our market, based on data from pharmacies cooperating with the portal, there is currently practically no medical marijuana in Polish pharmacies.

In addition, the portal - pulsmedycyny.pl - shows that the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products is in the process of clarifying the registration procedures with one of the producers of dried herbs. If the URPL accepts the packaging specifications, the herb will go to Polish pharmacies later this month. According to the WherePoLek portal, 120 kg of raw material awaits in Germany, which will go to the Polish market only after obtaining consent.
